Ringing My Bell For The Salvation Army

http://www.onlineredkettle.org/CSP

Did you enjoy Thanksgiving last month?
I did.

Plenty of food and fellowship with your family?
Yes!

Did you go shopping on Black Friday or Cyber Monday for the killer deals?
Some.

Are you crossing of things on your list, getting ready for the holidays?
I'm starting to gather a few items for my family.

Well, not everyone is as blessed as we are.  Many people would not have had a Thanksgiving without the Salvation Army.  Many will not have Christmas either without the help of people like you.  I don’t know about you, but I really can’t do much but I do know that every little bit received contributes to a blessing in someone’s life.  For Christmas, I decided to set up an online “Red Kettle”.  I’m not asking for a lot from people, a small donation of $1 to $5 if you can, more if you would like. My donation is $5 which in the grand scheme of things is not a lot, but it’s what I have to give and when added to others it does make a difference.

Below is my personal page.  If you would like to give, thank you!! If you would like to start your own kettle and post it on your Facebook or email to friends, please do.  Or if you would like to share my kettle page with friends that would be great.  There’s no prize for who collects the most. The prize is helping others.

Thank you all.

Rascal Flatts Fan Club Annual Christmas Toy Drive Needs Your Help

Ok everyone it is that time again!! A little reminder that Rascal Flatts has a fantastic Fan Club with some really wonderful people. Among them, Velvet Arrington or ~V~ as she is lovingly known.  She heads up a toy drive every year for the children and families that spend their Christmas at the Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN.  ~V~ Packs up her car and personally delivers these items from her home in South Carolina to the hospital each year. She can't do this without our support. Please send her a little something off her list.  No matter how big or little the gift is everything counts. Let's make ~V~ rent a U-Haul for this year's trip :)

One more thing, the Christmas season is celebrated differently by many cultures. Please refrain from using any specific phrase such as "Merry Christmas" on any item or card you send.  The children and their families my not celebrate the season as Christmas but as Hanukkah for example.  A more general greeting such as "Happy Holiday's" or "Season's Greetings" work well in all cultures :)

If you are interested and would like to be a part of this beautiful cause, please email ~V~ at arringnl@gmail.com for her mailing address and any questions you may have.  Your contribution will brighten the lives of so many.

Deadline to have items to ~V~ is Dec. 10th, 2011... Please ask others to get involved as well.

Congratulations Rascal Flatts

Gary, Jay and Joe Don, you three are heroes to so many for so many reasons.  Among them are the children, families and staff at the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.  It is fitting that the new Surgery Center should bear the name of Rascal Flatts as your love, compassion and commitment to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital touches the heart and lifts the soul.

Congratulations Rascal Flatts!!

VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER'S WEEKLY NEWSPAPER

Rascal Flatts honored for tireless support

BY: CHRISTINA E. SANCHEZ

10/28/2010 - Award-winning music group Rascal Flatts is being honored today at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital for their unwavering devotion to the care of children.

Rascal Flatts has raised nearly $3 million over the past several years through concerts and other events, and they also have spent generous amounts of time with children and families. Money from their fundraisers will be used to build a new specialized radiology suite.

As a tribute to their continued dedication, Children's Hospital administration will unveil the naming of the pediatric surgical suite as the “Rascal Flatts Surgery Center.”

“In honor of the extraordinary philanthropic commitment of Rascal Flatts to our patients and families at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital, we are truly delighted to announce the naming of the new Rascal Flatts Surgery Center,” said Jonathan Gitlin, M.D., James C. Overall Professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics.

“Most importantly, this center, which houses all our existing and new surgical programs, will become the home for our new state-of-the-art interventional radiology suite for the care of children with heart disease, cancer and other critical surgical and medical problems.”

Rascal Flatts members, whose photos and albums decorate walls in Children's Hospital, said they are humbled by the generous display of appreciation.

“We became involved with the work at Children's Hospital so that children will continue to have a wonderful place to get better and to help their families move on with their lives,” said Gary LeVox. “We have built some long-lasting relationships, not only with the staff, but with some of the kids and their parents as well.”

Rascal Flatts' contributions will allow Children's Hospital's surgery center to develop a new interventional radiology suite to expand services offered to families.

Pediatric surgeons and radiologists will use the suite for challenging surgical issues that involve procedures such as liver transplants and difficult abdomen and chest infections.

Designs have been drafted to build the suite on the third floor of the hospital.

It will include high-tech radiology equipment and devices, including a bi-planar imaging system.
More than 12,700 pediatric surgeries are performed each year at Children's Hospital.

Doctors conduct general and specialized surgeries on children, from infancy to adolescence, to address a myriad of congenital and acquired health conditions.

“We are so fortunate to have forged a relationship with Rascal Flatts. I continue to be amazed, as I have told them, by their level of commitment to this hospital,” said John Brock III, M.D., surgeon in chief of Children's Hospital. “Their gift to develop an interventional radiology suite will allow us to further our services for children.”

A sign that bears the group's name will adorn the entrance to the surgery center.

“All parents and children who enter the area will walk under the Rascal Flatts sign, but the words we write will never adequately express what they have done and how people like them, as well as others, allow us to do what we do,” Brock said.

Wonderful Blog about Make A Wish Charity Event

I really love these guys! They were instrumental in this event and helped raise $760,000! Awesome love from Gary, Jay and Joe Don to the Make A Wish foundation.

Yet another reason I am very proud to be a Street Team Leader for Rascal Flatts, truly humbled by how much they give. Again, I love you all!! Thank you for letting me be a part of your team!!! (((Hugs)))

With Colleen as the Master of Ceremonies and me as the Live auctioneer, script writer, stage and "emotion" director, we made something AMAZING happen for the Make-A-Wish foundation. The 2010 Big Wish Gala featuring country music superstars Rascal Flatts. Such a honor to be asked back to the event for the second year. Certainly a highlight of my career and one that I look forward to helping expand.

Imagine constructing this incredible glass tent on the 50 yard line of the prized buckeye stadium field. Then fill it with the best decor, food and talented event production and event management team imaginable. In addition, bring in Broadway superstar Jessica Grove to grant a Broadway wish for a darling little girl who wants to dance on Broadway. Then bring to the stage, none other than Country Music Superstars; Rascal Flatts for an awesome private performance. What more could you want?

How about raising over $760,000 in the process!

It costs $6,000 to grant a wish for the Make-A-Wish organization and this was an effort to catch up on the backlog of wishes that this organization is facing. Kids that need something to look forward to and allow themselves to be superstar for a day, a week or take their dream trip or experience. The outpouring of support from Central Ohio was sensational.

I worked closely with PageTech LTD (Live Event producer) and Destinations by Design (Event planner and management) to script an evening for the master of ceremony and all celebrities in attendance that allowed every guest to understand the importance of why they were there, how they could help and also feel a part of the success the night had to offer. I then took to the stage to begin a live auction like no other. It included a special visit from Rascal Flatts to the stage as we huddled up and talked about an ultimate fan package we could offer amongst other one of a kind items. The photo here is the four of us (I'm hiding in the middle there) deciding that the winner would also be allowed to put the gel in Gary's (lead singer) hair the night they choose to go to the concert anywhere in the country. (Of course with backstage passes, autographed guitar and VIP access).

It was an awesome experience for me to be a part of it and to raise over $300,000 between the life auction components I hosted. Special thanks to Make-A-Wish of Central Ohio and all of the inedible children and families they help support, encourage and allow to dream.....

Rascal Flatt’s Joe Don Rooney Hits The Greens In Greenville, SC For Charity

Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts recently hit the greens in Greenville, SC, when he played in the tenth annual BMW Charity Pro-Am golf tournament. The event pairs celebrity players with stars of the PGA Tour’s Nationwide Tour. Joe Don has played the tournament in years past and is a fan favorite at the event! Fans line the greens for a chance to get a picture or an autograph and he is always happy to stop and chat for a sec and take a picture. We love seeing Joe Don at the tournament and hope he will continue to play in future ones as well.

Each year, amateurs and celebrities compete for individual prizes and cash donations to the charity of their choice out of the beneficiaries selected by South Carolina Charities, Inc.

The first nine tournaments raised more than seven million dollars for more than 125 area charities according to tournament officials.
